We make it happen
In most of the countries SKF is present, there are big differences between the rich and the poor. SKF tries to pitch in to level the playing field, and one of the areas where this is truly possible is football.
That’s why the cooperation with Gothia Cup is so fruitful. Young players from all over the world get to meet and learn about each other. Awareness is the first step towards change.
If we keep on influencing young people year after year, it will have a great impact in the long run.
There is a catch however. Those who would benefit the most, often can’t afford to come. That is why SKF initiated the Meet the world tournaments. In some of the countries where SKF is present, a tournament is held where the winning team gets to go to Gothia cup in Gothenburg to play the greatest youth football tournament in the world with all expenses covered. In 2010 there are 18 tournaments held throughout the world.
This is a quote from one of the spectators of the tournament in Kenya that shows there is much to do:
“Not even a boys team has ever travelled do play football outside East Africa. How can a girl’s team fly to play football in Europe? “
